An interaction program on “Importance of Integrating Mental Health in Primary Health: Opportunities and Challenges” was organized by National Human Rights Commission in collaboration with KOSHISH at United World Trade Center Tripureshwor on 12th March 2014.
The Main Objectives of the Program were: 

  • To discuss about the reasons to integrate mental health into the primary health system.
  • Way forward to integrate mental health into primary health system by the government sector. 
  • The role of the stakeholders in integrating mental health into primary health system.

To discuss about the challenges and opportunities in integration of mental health into the primary health system.  The resource persons presented paper in the following topics:

  • Presentation on Plans and Policies to Integrate Mental Health Issues  as Primary Health Concern by Dr. Surendra Serchan, Director, Mental  Hospital, Lalitpur
  • Presentation on Integration of Mental Health Issues in Primary Health  Care: Why and How? Mr. Matrika Devkota, Chair Person, KOSHISH
  • Presentation on Linking Mental Health in Primary Health Care and Human Rights Perspectives, Mr. Surya B. Deuja, Focal Officer, Promotion and  Advocacy Division, NHRC.
